“Hoops” is inspired by 90s grunge, DIY spirit, and raw introspection based off my summer nights as a youth. I wrote and produced this track while reflecting on my middle school years in the late 90’s, playing basketball and being inspired by the gritty magic of the local rock scene in Petaluma, CA. Back then, the Phoenix Theater—an all-ages venue where I saw underground bands—sparked something in me that’s still alive today. This song lives in that same space: lo-fi and dreamlike, honest and unfiltered. It’s about not knowing all the answers, but moving toward what you love.
